The drawing literati is an international collective of female artists who work with drawing and literature.
The group was formed in 2021 during the course. Drawing as Fictioneering by Shubigi Rao at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts Salzburg. The participants remained in contact after the course and developed an ongoing collaboration.
Collaborative work
The artists meet online weekly to draw together, exchange ideas, and discuss their work. Their starting point is often literary texts, poems, or artistic concepts, which they then translate into individual drawings.
Previous topics have included texts by Meret Oppenheim and Yoko Ono, as well as excerpts from the Book of Joy.
In addition to regular online meetings, the group also organizes joint working residencies. In August 2025, the artists spent a week in Hohentauern in Styria.
