(June 19 – July 31, 2015)
The exhibition „STRUCTURES“ In the summer of 2015, the exhibition focused on the dialogue between contemporary sculptural, graphic, and interdisciplinary positions. The exhibition centered on the artists' exploration of form, order, and spatial systems, as well as their interplay with the natural environment of the sculpture garden.1, 2]
Agnes Christine Katschner In this context, she exhibited her work (including at the intersection of graphics, surface and space) together with the Austrian sculptor Markus Redl and the Spanish artist José Luis Vicario. [1, 2]
Her works for the exhibition „Structures“ engage with environmental policy issues as well as with post-structuralist theories. Some works relate to the perception and constitution of the subject. According to Jacques Lacan, the „I“ is not simply the „authentic“ but structurally shaped and divisible into: Je/ moi (I as an Other in the mirror/ the ideal self, imago, which is outside the body and unattainable).
The methodology, the development of the images, is influenced by Far Eastern calligraphy and ink painting. François Cheng, a student of J. Lacan, analyzed Chinese painting as a language, as thought in action, whereby "perspective" refers to a mental construct, structured, for example, into balance/contrast, distance/near, fullness and emptiness…
